Support The Institute

There are many ways to give a gift to the Institute. All donations are tax-deductible and, no matter what their size, are needed and appreciated.

1. Become a Member of the Institute

This is an annual program.  Your membership creates operating income to cover overhead costs.  It’s one of the best ways to show your support for local growers, get Institute news, updates and newsletters and receive great gifts!  Premiums include reduced ticket prices to the Movie Series and annual gala, newsletters, pens, wildflower seeds, aprons, tote bags, gift certificates to the Market’s Mercado and best of the season baskets!

2. Make an operating donation

A gift to operating give us the most flexibility in meeting the needs of the Institute.  Operating gifts are 100% tax deductible.

3. Make a restricted gift to one of our programs

  • The Food Stamp Program to cover promotion to EBT recipients, supplies and transaction fees
  • The Micro Loan Program to grow the principal available for loans for farmers*
  • The Movie Series—to underwrite the facility costs, movie rentals, advertising, prizes and food.
  • SALCI (Small Ag-Land Conservation Initiative)—to fund our efforts to conserve farmland through conservation easements and advocacy.*
  • The Land Conservation Bridge Loan Project to cover the cost of putting farmland in an easement for farmers until the tax credit comes in.*

*Unless otherwise restricted, ten percent of your contribution will support the Institute’s operating expenses.

4. Help us pay down the mortgage on the building

Our mortgage stands at $421,000.  Your gift to “the building” will help us reduce the mortgage and our monthly payments!

           Buy A Brick

A brick can be purchased for $500.  Your inscription can be two lines of 13 characters each (including spaces).  The brick patio is on the south side of the building across the street from Site Santa Fe.

           Buy a Solar Collector

A solar collector can be purchased for $750. The purchasers name is listed on a plaque for our “green” donors in the Market Hall by the water fountain.

          Become a $1000 and up donor

Donors will have their name permanently inscribed in the Market Hall.

          Name a part of the building

Naming opportunities are available for donors who contribute $20,000.  Please contact the Institute office for more information.

Types of Giving

1. Outright Gifts

The Institute accepts donations in the form of cash, checks, stocks, bonds, mutual fund shares, real estate and personal property.  Please contact the Institute at 983-7726 for stock transfer instructions.

2. Pledges

Your gift can be paid over one year or several years. You can specify when payments will begin and the frequency of payments (i.e., quarterly, semi-annually or annually).

3. Matching Gifts

Many companies offer Matching Gifts Program as a way to encourage employees to contribute to charitable organizations. Most of these match dollar for dollar and some will even double or triple the amount of your gift. Ask your company’s personnel department to learn if they offer such a program. If they do, submit their form with your donation.
