Programs And Resources

The Long Look

The Farmers’ Market Institute built the Santa Fe Farmers’ Market Building to house a vibrant local market. The Institute will manage the facility for the next 80-years.  Now the work begins to address the many issues challenging our agricultural community to ensure that the Market will thrive for generations to come.  How can we help farmers buy a piece of land and call it their own? In the face of global warming, how can we help them be as efficient as they can be, in their energy use, their water use and their overhead and labor? How can we bring in a wider, more diverse constituency, so that we can truly say that everyone in our community has access to fresh, local food? How can we find new farmers when our elder farmers start to retire? With our new building completed, we feel a sense of celebration and accomplishment, but we are also looking to the future, to develop more programs that will improve our local food sustainability and our farmers’ ability to produce it for us. We invite you to join us in this important work and to read more about it in this section!
